This also saves you time at the station, and it is often cheaper. If you must buy tickets at the station, it's usually best to use local currency. Remember that you'll need to arrive early at the station.

If your goal is to get from one place to another without needing to see the scenery or local life, consider looking for options to travel at night. This way, you may find the journey feels shorter. Try to ensure that you haven't slept much before the trip so that you can fall asleep more easily. If you struggle to sleep on bus journeys, it can also be helpful to bring a neck pillow, earplugs, and a sleep mask.
Food and drink
Make sure you always have enough food and drink for long bus journeys. If you are traveling with Flixbus, for example, snacks and drinks are usually sold, but not enough for a journey lasting several hours. Remember that few bus companies allow hot food and alcohol (also consider restroom needs). Also, bring a bag for trash. Wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper are always useful on the go. If you're traveling on basic buses in exotic regions, you might not feel inclined to use the bus restroom. Health
If the bus stops for a few minutes, it's always good to stretch your legs to avoid stiffness and get your blood circulation going. A ten-hour bus trip can make you very tired, and it’s not pleasant if you need a full day to recover afterward.
Seat selection
If there's not much foot space on the bus you're traveling with, it can be wise to be at the stop well before departure. This way, you can secure a seat at the front by the driver or near an exit. If you're traveling through beautiful, scenic landscapes, it can be helpful to ask the driver which side of the bus is best. If you have a fear of heights and the bus travels through mountainous areas, you might choose to sit by the aisle?
Waiting
Be prepared for it often taking a long time at border crossings. Two hours of waiting is not unusual.
