If you're 18 and have a thirst for exploration, the European Union's DiscoverEU program is your ticket to an unforgettable journey.

This initiative provides free Interrail passes, allowing young Europeans to traverse the continent by train, immersing themselves in its rich tapestry of cultures and histories.
What is DiscoverEU?
DiscoverEU is an EU initiative that grants 18-year-olds the opportunity to explore Europe primarily by train. The program aims to foster a sense of unity and appreciation for the continent's diverse heritage among young Europeans.
Eligibility and application
To be eligible, applicants must:
Be born between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007.
Hold citizenship or residency in one of the EU Member States or countries associated with the Erasmus+ program, such as Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Türkiye.
Applications are submitted through the European Youth Portal during specified periods. The selection process includes a quiz on EU knowledge, and successful applicants receive a travel pass valid for up to 30 days.
Travel details
Duration: Up to 30 days of travel within a set timeframe.
Transportation Modes: While train travel is emphasized, alternative transportation methods like ferries and buses may be utilized, especially for those in remote areas or on islands.
Group Travel: Participants can choose to travel solo or form a group of up to five friends, provided all meet the eligibility criteria.
Financial aspects
The DiscoverEU travel pass covers transportation costs up to a value of €283.26. This amount aligns with the cost of a standard Interrail pass, which typically ranges around this price.
